BRITISH CURRICULUM

KEY STAGE 3

At FilBrit Homeschool UK – Key Stage 3, we adhere to the national guidelines set forth by the UK government to ensure a high standard of education for our students. These guidelines form the foundation of our curriculum and teaching practices. For more detailed information, you can explore the full guidance below.

In KS 3, in the UK system is made up of three separate year groups:

  • 11-12 years of age (known as Year 7)
  • 12-13 years of age (known as Year 8)

The same subjects are taught in all three years, at different levels:

  • English

  • Science
  • History
  • Geography
  • Modern Foreign Languages
  • Design and Technology
  • Art and Design
  • Music
  • Physical Education (PE), including swimming

KS3-03

At FilBrit Homeschool UK, the languages subject taught can be varied, if there are specific reasons. But most commonly, the language taught is Spanish, as this is the second language in the world for native speakers, after Chinese (and ahead of English).

History and geography are usually taught through topics, which combine elements of each subject, and may include other subjects too. For example, UK schools must provide religious education (RE) and citizenship, but because our families come from all over the world, with different requirements and requests, we teach this through topic work.

For tests and assessments, FilBrit Homeschool UK students, will take more formal tests when they reach the end of each year, in all subjects.
