BRITISH CURRICULUM
KEY STAGE 4
At FilBrit Homeschool UK – Key Stage 4, we adhere to the national guidelines set forth by the UK government to ensure a high standard of education for our students. These guidelines form the foundation of our curriculum and teaching practices. For more detailed information, you can explore the full guidance below.
KS 4, in the UK system is made up of three separate year groups:
- 14-15 years of age (known as Year 10)
- 15-16 years of age (known as Year 11)
During Key Stage 4 FilBrit Homeschool students will work towards national/international qualifications – usually iGCSEs.
There are many subjects that students can study – the most common are:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science (separately or combined)
- ICT
- Computing
- Business
- History
- Geography
- Psychology
At FilBrit Homeschool UK, the languages taught can be varied, if there are specific reasons. Normally, the language taught is Spanish, as this is the second language in the world for native speakers, after Chinese (and ahead of English).
We have more flexibility for our students than UK schools can: we encourage students to take a minimum of 5 subjects, but it is your choice.
UK schools must provide religious education (RE) and citizenship, but because our families come from all over the world, with different requirements and requests, in these ages we teach moral education.
TESTS & ASSESSMENTS
FilBrit Homeschool students will sit for formal, internationally recognized exams, set externally, at the conclusion of each key stage in all the subjects they have studied.
