BRITISH CURRICULUM
KEY STAGE 5
At FilBrit Homeschool UK – Key Stage 5 maintains the high educational standards set by the UK government for A-Levels and other Level 3 qualifications. Our curriculum and teaching are fully aligned with these guidelines, providing students with a strong foundation for university and future careers. See below for links to specific qualification specifications and exam board details.
Key Stage 5, in the UK system, typically covers two years of study:
- 16-17 years of age (known as Year 12 or Lower Sixth)
- 17-18 years of age (known as Year 13 or Upper Sixth)
During Key Stage 5 at FilBrit Homeschool, students will work towards nationally recognised Level 3 qualifications, most commonly A-Levels. We also support students pursuing other Level 3 qualifications, such as BTECs, depending on their chosen pathway.
A-Levels are generally more academically focused than other Level 3 qualifications. Students typically choose three or four subjects to study in depth. While the specific subjects offered may vary, some common A-Level options include:
- Geography
- Psychology
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
- History
- Biology
- English Language
- Computer Science
- Physics

At FilBrit Homeschool UK – Key Stage 5, we offer a flexible curriculum designed to meet individual student needs and university aspirations. While Spanish is often recommended, other languages may be available.
We empower students to choose the number of A-Levels or other Level 3 qualifications they wish to pursue, typically three, but up to five. Instead of traditional RE and citizenship, we provide Moral Education, exploring ethics and global citizenship, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of our international students.
TESTS & ASSESSMENTS
FilBrit Homeschool students will sit for formal, internationally recognized exams, set externally, at the conclusion of each key stage in all the subjects they have studied.
